Fluids. Energy. Science
Transport Phenomena constitute a scientific area with important applications in Civil, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering. CEFT is a Research Unit involving staff from the Chemical and Mechanical Engineering Departments based at FEUP (Faculty of Engineering at University of Porto) and other Portuguese Higher Education Institutions, such as the Polytechnic Institutes of Coimbra, Viseu and Bragança.
Our research in transport phenomena spans from the macro to the micro scales and integrates successfully an experimental approach with numerical methods and theoretical formulations.
Transport Phenomena Research Center (CEFT) vocation lies on research two major topics:
Energy: seeking for cleaner, more efficient and affordable energy and developing high performance low carbon technologies (optimization and development of electrolysis and fuel cells technology and systems for hydrogen production and storage) and working on thermal comfort and heat transformers.
Fluids: with several sub-topics, all of them interrelated: complex fluids, smart fluids, multiphase flows and biofluids.

rheINforce
Created in 2018 the company rherINforce Optimal Performance, Lda. intends to exploit commercially the technology developed and patented. This technology allows to develop new materials with mechanical properties customized and optimized for the application where they will be used, either for shock. vibration or noise damping.
